LS Retail has been named a Major Player among worldwide mobile point of sale software platforms in fashion retail by the latest 2025 IDC MarketScape report.
According to the 2024 Global Retail Survey from IDC, fashion and apparel retailers are aiming to make IT investments that will improve customer data quality and visibility, make demand forecasting more accurate, strengthen brand consistency across shopping journeys, and eliminate friction in omnichannel experiences (Source: IDC). Therefore, this study evaluates the omnichannel capabilities of mPOS software platform vendors in fashion retail, including mobile, integrations, data, AI/analytics, customer engagement, configurability, extensibility, and scalability.
Vendor inclusion criteria
To be included in this study, vendors must meet the following criteria:
- Have an established reputation offering a mobile POS software platform for the fashion industry, with a proven track record supported by current fashion retail customers.
- Offer an enterprise-ready omnichannel mPOS solution with advanced point of sale capabilities and specialized functionality tailored to the fashion industry.
- Have an mPOS solution that enables transactions, helps with queue busting, and clienteling/save the sale with additional features for fashion retailers such as inventory management, omnichannel returns, endless aisles, and loyalty.
- Have an international presence, with a strong footprint in at least two or more countries or regions.
A powerful, flexible system for fashion retail businesses
The report recognizes LS Central for its centralized capabilities, enabling fashion retailers to combine POS, ERP, inventory management, loyalty, clienteling, promotions, eCommerce integrations, and much more advanced functionality into a single system.
In addition, it highlights how LS Central addresses the specific operational and customer experience needs of fashion and apparel retailers:
“LS Retail is particularly well suited for fashion retailers, offering functionalities such as item variants (size, color, style), matrix management, seasonality planning, markdown optimization, and configurable promotions,” writes Margot Juros Research Director, Worldwide Retail Platforms & Technologies at IDC, Filippo Battaini, Research Manager for IDC Retail Insights in Europe, and Vijay Sarathi Gollapalli, Research Manager at IDC. “The solution's flexibility allows fashion retailers to adapt quickly to trends, manage complex assortments, and deliver personalized customer experiences” (Source: IDC).
“We’re delighted to see LS Central recognized as a Major Player in yet another retail segment,” says Kristjan Johannsson, General Manager at LS Retail. “Thanks to the rich functionality and flexibility of our software solutions, we’re able to support the unique needs of businesses across a wide range of industries and regions. Leading fashion brands like adidas already trust our technology, and we’re looking forward to continuing to grow and support our customers in this sector.”
LS Retail was named a major player for point-of-sale software vendors in retail fuel and convenience retail earlier this year by IDC, as well as a major player for POS vendors in the hotels and quick service industries in December of last year.
