Olis

Olis runs every station type from one platform, with real-time data and simpler loyalty

Olis is the oldest oil company in Iceland, operating full-service and self-serve stations across the country under the Olis and ÓB brands, alongside convenience stores, car washes, and quick service restaurants and cafés.

Olis had outgrown a heavily outdated POS that could not run on new hardware and had no defined future roadmap. It chose LS Central for forecourt, implemented by LS Retail together with the Olis team.

Centralized setup for every station type

Olis runs three types of stations: fueling stations that only sell gas, stations with pumps and a convenience store, and stations with pumps, a c-store and a quick service restaurant or café. With the POS profiles feature in LS Central for forecourt, Olis simplified its setup and now manages all of these configurations centrally, across the whole country.

Real-time visibility for faster decisions

Transactions at the service stations now appear in Olis's accounting system as they happen. That visibility supports quicker and better business decisions.

Simpler loyalty and discount management

Olis's discount and loyalty model is complex, which made it difficult and time-consuming to manage. With the Member management function in LS Central for forecourt and the loyalty card setup, Olis now handles loyalty and discounts quickly and easily, while members can still take advantage of many different discount possibilities.

What was holding the business back

Olis's legacy POS was heavily outdated and could not run on new hardware. Support was very limited, so Olis was often unable to solve the many problems that arose in daily operations, including issues caused by POS hardware incompatibility. With no defined future roadmap, the system was hindering the company's growth. Olis needed a replacement that integrated easily with its existing systems, offered a good range of third-party solutions, and supported future growth.

The decision and foundation

Olis had long run Microsoft Dynamics as its ERP, and trusted the platform's future development, so a system based on the same Microsoft solution made sense. Once introduced to LS Central for forecourt, and after seeing its capabilities and future roadmap, Olis knew it had found the right fit. LS Retail's wide-ranging experience and expertise, and its special working relationship with Microsoft, helped seal the decision.

The implementation was demanding. Besides the POS system, Olis also introduced a new forecourt solution and installed new gas pumps in some stations. One of the biggest challenges was the company's complex discount and loyalty model, which the Olis and LS Retail teams overcame through hard work. The project began with a pilot station before rolling out across the remaining stations.
