ZMMI

Real-time retail operations that scale efficiently

Faster checkout makes a real difference at peak hours

At the liquor store level, cashiers can scan barcodes, apply complex discounts and promotions, and process payments quickly and without friction. Checkout is now 30-40% faster, which means shorter queues during busy periods and staff who aren't under pressure to rush through transactions manually. “The system's user-friendly interface allows for faster staff training and adoption, streamlining daily operations and improving overall productivity,” says Tushar Shah, Finance & Commercial Director at ZMMI. “These enhancements have positively impacted both employee efficiency and customer service.”

Promotions now run without going back to developers

The promotion engine gives the team real flexibility to design and run a wide range of promotional scenarios – volume discounts, seasonal campaigns, bundled offers – without heavy customization. When market conditions shift or a sales opportunity comes at short notice, the team can respond without waiting for a developer to create them.

Real-time visibility replaced manual, multi-day reporting

Because LS Central includes access to the entire Microsoft suite, the company could easily connect their data with Microsoft Power BI. ZMMI created dashboards that give live visibility into sales, budgets, cash flow, and operational trends. Reports that used to take hours, sometimes days, are now available instantly. “The implementation of LS Central has brought significant improvements in reporting, operational efficiency, and decision-making,” says Mr. Shah. “As a unified commerce platform, it provides complete, accurate, and consistent data across all transactions without relying on complex integrations. The full transaction lifecycle is available from one place, enabling real-time visibility and traceability for management.”

Inventory is easier to manage across all stores

Advanced warehouse and lot tracking capabilities give the business greater control and traceability across all locations. Real-time inventory visibility across locations has cut down on stock discrepancies and made replenishment easier to manage. Staff can also define item attributes in detail, giving the business better analysis of product performance, customer preferences, and category trends.

One retail platform instead of disconnected systems

Before LS Central, ZMMI was running on Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012. Managing master data was slow and resource heavy. Getting promotions configured required heavy customization – every market shift or seasonal campaign meant going back to developers. Reports weren't available on demand; they had to be compiled manually, which cost hours, sometimes days. And with no native connection between POS and back-office, keeping inventory, finance, and sales data consistent across stores was an ongoing effort.

As Tushar Shah explains:

“We had planned to upgrade our existing ERP as part of our business growth and digital transformation strategy. With evolving retail requirements and increasing customer expectations, we were looking for an ERP solution that could better support modern retail operations.”

What they needed was fairly clear: a retail-focused platform – not a generic back-office system – that could handle stores, inventory, pricing, promotions, and finance in one place, with proper integration between POS, head office, and reporting, and enough room to grow.

A platform built on a familiar foundation

After evaluating several options, LS Central came out on top. Integrating natively to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, it offered the retail functionality they needed, native POS integration, and a familiar Microsoft ecosystem (Power BI, Azure, Office 365, and more) that made extending the platform straightforward. Today, LS Central supports both ZMMI’s back-office and retail operations, including advanced warehouse management.

The implementation was led by certified local LS Retail partner LS Infotech. The rollout covered system design, configuration, customization, and a round of testing before go-live. LS Infotech also ran training sessions across departments and put together documentation and user manuals to help the team get up to speed.

“The collaboration with LS Infotech was highly effective and professional,” says Mr. Shah. “Their team demonstrated strong technical expertise, extensive experience, and deep system knowledge, which were key factors in the successful implementation.”

The system launched on schedule and without major disruption. For ZMMI, it marked the start of a more connected, more capable way of running the business.

Q&A: insights from ZMMI's implementation

What made LS Central a better fit than a generic ERP?
ZMMI needed more than back-office software. LS Central offered advanced retail functionality out of the box and a unified platform that makes managing POS, promotions, inventory, and finance much easier across the business.

How has the POS improvement affected ZMMI day to day?
Checkout is 30–40% faster, which means shorter queues, happier customers, and staff who aren't under pressure to rush through transactions manually. The interface also made training new staff quicker, which helps in a retail environment where turnover is a constant challenge.

How does LS Central handle complex promotions for the wine and spirits industry?
Wine and spirits retail involves a lot of promotional variety, seasonal campaigns, volume discounts, bundled offers. Previously that kind of flexibility required heavy customization. With LS Central's promotion engine, ZMMI can set up and run complex scenarios without needing to go back to developers every time market conditions shift.

What changed most for management?
Visibility. Reports that used to take hours or days are now available instantly through dashboards connected to Power BI. Management can see sales performance, inventory, and operational trends in real time, across all stores, from one place. That has significantly improved the speed and quality of decision-making.
