IKEA in Iceland has implemented an express checkout solution developed by our Partner in the Netherlands, K3 Landsteinar. The solution makes the normal checkout process unattended with the customer scanning the products himself as well as an automated payment process. The traditional cashier on each checkout is replaced with an attendant that is only intended to assist the customers and handle exception. Each attendant can handle four checkouts at the same time. Much emphasis in the development of the express checkout solution was put on the ease of use for the customer and in addition the solution was the first one in Iceland that uses chip and pin technology for handling card payments.

 

K3 Landsteinar are also proud to announce that, in the month of December, Wildkamp went live with LS Retail in 3 of their shops. These shops were seen as a pilot for the remaining shops that Wildkamp operates in the Netherlands. After a successful pilot the rollout of the remaining shops is now under way and is expected to be finalized by the end of March 2009.
