GameStop, the largest specialist retailer of video games in the world, has adopted K3 Landsteinar’s integrated retail management system ‘Socius’, to manage its product portfolio from purchasing into its centralised warehouse all the way through to distributing product to each store. Landsteinar Retial is part of the Socius retail management solution.

Paul Hennessy, Finance Director GameStop, "With more than 1800 stores across the US and 25 in the Republic and Northern Ireland, GameStop moved from Take 5 Enterprise and other software tools because, although the systems worked well when we were smaller, as we grew they could not cope with the added complexity and volume of information."

He adds, "Socius Retail has already made the management of our product file and the movement of product from supplier to warehouse to store much more accurate and efficient, while also simplifying and speeding up our ability to produce timely accounts. Sales-based automated purchasing from suppliers and distribution from our warehouse to stores coupled with the integration of this with the financial side of the system has been hugely beneficial to us."

"The system has allowed us to manage the growth that we had undergone before putting it in and will allow us to continue that growth. The real test was to run it over the Christmas period which is by far our busiest time and the system passed with flying colours." .

GameStop uses K3 Landsteinar's Socius Retail to record and manage the products that it plans to stock in its stores. Daily, it automatically uploads sales information from its stores into the system. Socius Retail automatically calculates how much of each product GameStop needs to purchase, creates the purchase orders and sends them to its suppliers. The system then calculates and creates transfers from the central warehouse to stores. This gives us much more efficient stock management.

GameStop has already embarked on Phase II of the implementation which adds further valuable features to the original system and is currently assessing Phase III.

GameStop carried out a full selection process comparing a number of suppliers and products and K3 Landsteinar was able to prove that not only did they have the best integrated solution for GameStop but also that they had the experienced staff to successfully implement it.
