| At a recent marketing event, Arquiconsult presented to its clients a management solution called LS Retail for the retail area. LS Retail is a vertical solution fully integrated with ERP Microsoft Dynamics NAV (previously Navision). It includes store management functionality and links POS (Point-of-Sale) with Microsoft Dynamics NAV. This module enables the management of both head-office and a network of stores. Among the added values stressed by Arquiconsult during the demonstration is the online selection of charts, especially directed towards the front management of a store, and the follow-up and reconstruction of store transactions to recover errors and discover fraud. The manager can define the means of payment, set differentiated prices by products/groups of products or by stores, sales promotions and discounts by date and hour intervals. The ease of sales analysis was a point equally stressed. Budgeted sales can be compared with actual sales, giving a greater overview over the sales patterns of each store or of products. All data can be exported to Microsoft Excel with one click. As for the front office, LS POS is the LS Retail component for Point of Sale/Services (POS). This module is available in different versions for the general segment of the retail and restaurant business, and can be equally used in peripherals, such as PDA, to operate in stores. The advantages include, for example, a touch screen for promotions and prices, annulments and devolutions, suspension and recovery of transactions, management of coupons, search and display of stock in other stores. In the client list, the more resounding names in the national market are the Gato Preto stores and the Blockbuster chain. LS Retail was presented as the vertical solution with the greatest success in the Microsoft world. It has been implemented in more than 18.500 POS around the world. Mr. Carsten Wulff, director of the partner network at Landsteinar Strengur, was as guest speaker on behalf of the Icelandic company which owns the solution represented by Arquiconsult. He referred that the economic and competitive pressure is tightening in the global market, and that this is changing commercial approaches. “Retailers must be aware that technology can help them overcome the market fluctuations and take advantage of the new opportunities of the business”, Mr. Wulff said. He maintained that the pressure to reduce the margins and the prices is so globalized that these factors are no longer a factor of differentiation in the different areas. “Presently, the difference is measured through the relationship that is maintained with the clients; there has to be an exchange of value between the parties and this means a new standard of functioning for these retailers”, he explained. Among the priorities concerning the expenditure on information technologies are the systems of store management, of B2B and B2C and multi channel integration. Linking this issue with the LS Retail solution, Mr. Wulff made it a point to add to all previous demonstrations of the application functionalities, the “advantage of it being operated on a Microsoft platform”. He also added: “The company offers a standard solution, simple to customize, perfectly integrated with wireless technology, a solution of Supply Chain Management and standard tools for business analysis”. In conclusion, Carsten Wulff pointed out that one of the goals is “to be among the top five companies in retail software”.
